Calgary Unplugged: Earth Hour Celebration

Calgary Unplugged is a family-friendly Earth Hour event held annually in East Village.
Join in for musical performances, crafts, and educational displays. Participants can engage with magnetic induction systems, experience producing 300 watts of power on pedal powered bike generators, play with a midway style game to learn about Alberta’s renewable energy sources, and more! All non-essential lighting in the library will be turned off from 8:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m. and participants are encouraged to bring LED or other lighting with them to use during this time.
Calgary Unplugged is hosted by The Arusha Centre's Climate Program, with program support from The City.
Earth Hour is a worldwide event to continue the conversation about how limiting our energy use can reduce our impact on the environment.
The city celebrates Earth Hour on March 25! On Saturday, March 25, The City of Calgary joins other governments, organizations and citizens around the world in shutting off the lights for Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
All non-essential and decorative lighting will be turned off in the following locations:
- Ad Valorem Place
- All fire stations
- Calgary Public Building
- Dartmouth Place
- Manchester Centre Building E
- The Calgary Municipal Building (Historic City Hall, Administration Building, Municipal Building)
- Water Centre
