Diakonos 7th Annual St. Patrick's 10K and 5K Run/Walk - 2013

Eau Claire Market, 200 Barclay Parade S.W.

Schedule:
Warm up activities and snacks: 9:30 a.m.
10km run or walk starts at 10:00 a.m. sharp
5km run or walk start at 10:15 a.m. sharp

Entry Fees: $30 until Feb. 20, $35 until March 13

Distances: 5 km/10 km

Get your “GREEN ON” and celebrate St Patrick’s Day in support of Our Community Heroes: First Responders, Military Personnel, and their Families

You can support the Diakonos Retreat Society by collecting pledges: Download a printable pledge form and information about the fantastic prizes available. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $25 or more. Complete donor information (full name, address, postal code, phone number) must be collected for a tax receipt to be issued. Cheques must be made out to the Diakonos Retreat Society.

Where will the funds for this event go: Funds will go directly to supporting these two areas – The Annual Diakonos Family Camp held each May. This Camp allows families and individuals time away to do high ropes and horseback riding programs, family time management planning and benefit from motivational guest speakers. Post traumatic stress and critical incident proactive workshops also provide resources to further strengthen the family or individual. The second area includes supporting the operational costs associated with the Calgary Diakonos House.

Shamrockin’ was a huge success for the children of Providence and their families in 2012. Over 500 people attended the sold out event, and it raised (net) $206,000! Be a part of the joy of this event again this year. Shamrockin’ is slated for March 16, at the Westin Hotel.

Dine & Deals gala is one of the community’s most successful and best administered events. Because of sponsorship support, ticket sales, and donations, costs are only .26 cents for every dollar raised. Net proceeds are directed to the Early Intervention Program and Capital. With St. Patrick's Day falling on a Sunday this year, expect events to be happening all weekend at most locations. The best places are those places with some tradition of St. Patrick's Day, live entertainment and some sort of Irish pedigree, especially on the 17th. Here's a few suggestions. More to come...
