For decades, The Hungarian Veterans’ Asociation has sponsored this beloved event, and the next gala is sure to be the best one yet. After a two-year hiatus, they are so excited and honoured to be able to celebrate with our fellow Hungarians and Calgarians once again.
A regal and truly timeless event, The Magyar Gála promises an evening you will remember for a life-time, with fine-dining, socializing and entertainment. Witness local Calgary dance talent perform everything from waltzes to folk dances with the grace of a forgotten era. You’ll be swept back in history by the grandeur of this elegant, formal occasion. The Magyar Gála is a showcase of Hungarian culture to the Canadian community. The Magyar Gála is a debutante ball coupled with a strong military tradition. Since its early days in the 1950s, the ball grew both in scale and scope. From a humble evening of dinner and dance it blossomed into an elaborate and elegant ball. The evening is filled with excitement and delightful performances.
The opening performance is the traditional stately Palots Court Dance, which became the traditional opening dance for many Hungarian balls. The highlight of the Ball is the presentation of the debutantes through the Debutante Waltz. The richness and splendour of the Hungarian folkdance is then presented by the Vadrózsa Hungarian Folk Dancers. Dancing to live entertainment would follow.
