Admission is free
The annual Mayor's Environment Expo is held in conjunction with National Environment Week with the goal to empower and educate Calgary’s youth to practice and promote environmental actions, shaping a healthier and greener city for tomorrow.
The 34th annual Mayor's Environment Expo will run virtually June 5 to 8 and in-person June 6-7. More than 30 online sessions are being offered throughout the week, combined with more than 100 in-person sessions over the course of two days. Sessions are designed to educate and empower students to take their learning beyond the classroom – and ultimately, to become the environmental stewards of tomorrow.
At the Expo:
- Visit over 50 booths from The City of Calgary, environmental organizations and Calgary businesses, showcasing their actions, programs and products to reduce impact on the environment.
- Dozens of in-person sessions spread out across six venues around Calgary City Hall!
- Eco-Leader Schools will have the chance to present their community-focused projects to the general public, other Calgary schools, and exhibitors. The City of Calgary has partnered with the Alberta Council for Environmental Education (ACEE) to deliver the EcoSchools program in Calgary, which is designed to educate K-12 students about climate change and environmental education.
- See the winners of the 2023 Youth Photography Contest from students in grades 7-12 that have a passion for photography and the environment.
- Learn more about youth environmental leadership program that helps student teams design projects to tackle real life environmental problems.
- Students engage through workshops and live performances. The Expo is targeted for Kindergarten to Grade 9 students and teachers, with curriculum links in Social Studies, Science and the Arts. However, there is something for people of all ages.
- Classes or clubs can participate in the Expo, from a day trip to City Hall, to six months of hands-on learning, the Expo will get your group excited about protecting our environment.
