Western Canada’s Largest Outdoor Quilt Show

Grab your family and join in for the Best. Festival of Quilts. Ever. For two days explore the Historical Village and admire hundreds of colourful quilts on display. And of course the Historical Village is open with all your favourites so you can experience the sights, smells and sounds of living history spanning from the 1880s to the 1950s!

The Festival of Quilts is Western Canada’s largest outdoor quilt show! Hundreds of stunning handmade quilts of all shapes, sizes and techniques will decorate the Park's exhibits inside and out.

Whether you’re an avid quilter or simply enjoy viewing the beautiful work, there is quilting fun to be had all over the Park:

• Wander over to the Merchants' Mall where a variety of businesses from across western Canada will be offering the 'latest and greatest' from the quilting community.

• Quilt Community Showcase - Visit with guild members to discover what quilters in Calgary are working on.

• How-to demonstrations to inspire your creativity

Special Display Categories

House quilts, Diamond quilts and Creative Kids make up the Special Displays for 2024.

House Quilts

For this year’s block competition, show your houses! They would like to see your schoolhouses, tiny houses, and any recognizable dwelling. This excludes the traditional “log cabin” blocks unless it has a roof. Your house(s) needs to cover the majority of the quilt.

Diamond Quilts

Bring out your gems! 2024 is the Diamond Jubilee (60th Anniversary) of Heritage Park. Let’s help with the celebration by showing our most sparkling, multi-faceted diamond quilts. Diamond quilts are all about angles. They are not looking for square blocks on point, but the more pointy kind of diamonds.

Creative Kids Quilts

Another special display is Creative Kids Quilts. Young quilters (16 years old and younger) who create a quilt(s) with a little help from a friend are invited to display their quilt(s) at the Festival. Don’t forget the outer perimeter must be a minimum of 60 inches. Go kids go!

Festival of Quilts Workshops

They will not be hosting weekday workshops, or an evening trunk show this year in order to focus on the Festival weekend and bringing you the best show possible in celebration of Heritage Park’s 60th anniversary year.
