Agriculture is Canada's leading industry, employing one third of our work force. It is important for children to find out what is happening "out on the farm" and how agriculture impacts our daily lives. The displays and interactive activities, hosted by industry organizations and volunteers, are designed to help children learn more about Alberta's agricultural and historical legacy.
Aggie Days is a multi-sensory, hands-on exhibition offering families a fun exploration of the world of agriculture. This is an opportunity for the farm to come to the city and for families to learn about life on the farm. From live animals to computer games, there is something for the entire family at Aggie Days.
The annual Calgary Stampede Aggie Days is a celebration of agriculture, its connection to our environment, and its impact on our daily lives. This weekend gives families a fun opportunity to experience agriculture firsthand, offering a cornucopia of interactive displays, activities, entertainment, and demonstrations such as cow milking, sheep shearing, livestock auctioneering, the amazing corn maze, and much more! Of course you will be able to meet a wide variety of farm animals from huge draft horse to tiny chicks that are just a few days old. Come learn where your food comes from and enjoy going to the farm yet never leave the city.
Additional Attractions
April 22- Clock, Stock and Barrel
This timed trial challenges handlers and their stock dogs to move three sheep through a defined course and into a pen, in the fastest time. Keeping the sheep under control and on course can save valuable seconds.
The handler controls the dog, either through whistle or voice commands.
The handler must stay in a circle drawn into the dirt at one end of the arena until all the sheep have come through the chute. Time stops when all the sheep are in the pen and the gate is closed.
April 23- Extreme Cowboy Race.
The Extreme Cowboy Race, founded by famed horseman Craig Cameron, is a multi-faceted equestrian sporting event that showcases both horse and rider as they maneuver through a series of obstacles demonstrating both their amazing horsemanship skills and incredible speed.
This race is an ideal opportunity for our guests to experience the Extreme Cowboy style of racing by being a part of a large and loudly appreciative Aggie Days crowd in the Nutrien Western Event Center. The obstacle course that our competitors will face will include some of the epic "Cowboy Up " obstacles that are used in our world-famous Cowboy Up Challenge Stampede-time event in July. On top of all that, for those cowboys and cowgirls who aspire to compete with the world's best, this spring race provides an opportunity to show off their very best horse and rider moves in the hopes of being considered in future years as an invitee for the famous Calgary Stampede's Cowboy Up Challenge.
