Christmas magic comes to life when elderly Kris Kringle steps in as Macy’s Santa Claus, insisting he’s the genuine article. With warmth and kindness, Kris rekindles a sense of childlike wonder in even the most skeptical hearts, especially young Susan and her no-nonsense mother. When his sanity is questioned, Kris finds himself at the centre of a courtroom battle where he must prove that believing in the impossible is where miracles begin.

Book, Music & Lyrics by Meredith Willson

Based On The 20th Century Fox Picture

Story by Valentine Davies,

Screenplay by George Seaton

Directed by JP Thibodeau

Musical Direction by Alecia Pagnotta

Choreography by Ken Overbey

With the support of a determined attorney, and the belief of a young girl named Susan, Kris Kringle takes on the cynics in this musical adaptation of this holiday classic. Based on the movie of the same name, by the writer of the musical theatre classic “The Music Man,” the heart of this show invites all to embrace their own courage to believe—whether in Santa Claus, the goodness of people, or the power of faith itself. Kris Kringle and young Susan must challenge cynicism and skepticism, proving that sometimes the bravest act is holding onto hope in a world that discourages it.

The Perfect Outing for the Entire Family

Addison and Taylor never thought that asking Santa for a white Christmas would bring a huge snow storm on Christmas Eve. When their family is forced to pull off the road on their way to their grandparent's house, the kids fear their wish will ruin Christmas. After finding shelter in an old church, the family is faced with reality that this Christmas is not going to go as planned. Through music, imagination and the help of a janitor named Phil, the family celebrates the simple ways that Christmas can bring people together and remind us of the most important things in life.

Join Stage West for the children’s version of dinner theatre. For starters, Stage West displays an incredible “kid friendly buffet” complete with all the favourites … hot dogs, pizza, ice cream and much more. The buffet is then followed by a live child-oriented performance with plenty of humour for parents as well.

There are however many more people that contribute to the success of the event. Sponsors come forward with financial support or supplies to help fund the basics. Follow the Yellow Brick Road and join in over the rainbow this holiday season for the musical stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s timeless classic, The Wizard of Oz.

When a tornado sweeps young Dorothy Gale over the rainbow, she lands in the magical land of Oz. Joined by a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion, Dorothy sets off on a grand adventure down the Yellow Brick Road to try and find the mysterious Wizard of Oz – the only one who can send her back home to Kansas. But the Wicked Witch of the West has other plans for her.

Featuring iconic songs and wonderfully vibrant characters, The Wizard of Oz celebrates the enduring power of friendship, bravery, and believing in oneself, and warmly reminds us that in the end, there really is no place like home.

Age recommendation: Perfect for kids, kids-at-heart, and Munchkins aged 5-105!

Calgary Carol Festival 2025

Knox United Church, 506 4th Street S.W.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. each night

Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Admission: Donation towards the Calgary Food Bank

Calgary Carol Festival – 47 years and going strong!

Each night, choirs from across Calgary will fill the air with beautiful music, inviting everyone to join in singing carols. Knox United Church is honoured to support this cherished tradition, providing a space to gather donations for the Calgary Food Bank throughout the festival. Thanks to the generosity of festival audiences, we can extend a helping hand to those in need within our community. The Carol Festival is a time-honoured celebration of music, unity, and compassion here in Calgary.

In 1978, Frank McKitrick, Knox United Church’s Director of Music, and Knox United Church introduced the first annual Christmas Carol Festival, inviting a wide variety of choirs from the City of Calgary to perform over three evenings. The Downtown Rotary Club initially sponsored the event for the first three years. CBC Radio continued the sponsorship by recording the choirs’ performances and re-broadcasting their music during the holiday season.

In 2009, the event was renamed the Calgary Carol Festival to emphasize the broader community celebration of the event. Each year over thirty choirs from diverse backgrounds, ages and parts of the city come together to share in song and celebration. Knox United Church is honoured to host this beloved community celebration and kick-off to the holiday season. They are pleased to partner with the Calgary Food Bank with all proceeds benefitting Calgary’s food insecure population. Last year, over 1200 people attended this 3-day event, over 2700 lbs. of food was collected and over $11,000 was given to the Food Bank. Since 1997, this event has helped raise nearly two hundred thousand dollars in food and funds!

Once again, all choirs in the City of Calgary will be invited to participate in the event.

National Charity Partner - Make-A-Wish® Canada

Make-A-Wish®️ Canada helps raise funds to grant life-changing wishes across Canada. To date, they’ve raised almost $300,000 for Make-A-Wish Canada through our important national partnership.

Make-A-Wish Canada has granted over 39,000 wishes over the past 41 years, and this year will grant more wishes in a year than ever before. But the hard truth is a child is diagnosed with a critical illness every 2 hours, and Make-A-Wish Canada does not have the funding needed to grant wishes to them all.

Wishes are an essential part of a child’s treatment journey. Wishes not only provide hope, but they can lead to improved physical health outcomes. Nearly all medical providers report that a wish boosts a child’s physical well-being and gives them the strength they need to face their illness. And 100% of doctors said the wish experience improves the child’s overall quality of life and is a turning point in a child’s treatment. Together, you can make an impact in helping to grant wishes across Canada and in your community.

Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Every year, thousands of passionate Canadians dedicated to making a difference join the Santa Shuffle to help The Salvation Army support vulnerable people. This year will be no exception. The Santa Shuffle will be a meaningful, safe, and fun run/walk on Saturday, December 6th.

Welcome to the 2025 Santa Shuffle in Calgary! This family-friendly fun run & walk supports the Salvation Army's fight against poverty. The Santa Shuffle began 35 years ago in Edmonton, Alberta to fundraise for local Salvation Army initiatives when local Running Room members decided to use their passion for running as a way to raise money to support the less fortunate in their community. In 2001, the Santa Shuffle became a national event with locations in every province in Canada.

Today, the Santa Shuffle is a 5km Fun-Run and 1km Elf Walk for all ages and skill levels. Participants fundraise throughout the season to make a difference in their community. On event day, participants are encouraged to wear their funkiest festive running attire for a day of laughter and fun. After the event, each participant is rewarded a finisher medal to celebrate their accomplishment.

The Santa Shuffle is held in proud partnership with the Running Room. The proceeds from each race support local Salvation Army initiatives. 100% of the proceeds stay in the community where they were raised to fund local Salvation Army community family service programs.

The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada. As one of the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in the country, The Salvation Army offers practical assistance for children and families, shelter for people experiencing homelessness and rehabilitation for people who have lost control of their lives to a substance use disorder.

When you give to The Salvation Army, you are investing in the future of marginalized and overlooked people in your community Pledges raised for the Santa Shuffle will support people in your community who may be struggling to make ends meet. Participants that raise over $50 in pledges will receive a free Santa Shuffle pledge incentive item. Participants that raise over $250 in pledges will receive a free pledge incentive and a Running Room gift card.

The CPKC Holiday Train is happy to be back for its 27th year supporting food banks and food shelves across its network by raising money, food and awareness for food insecurity issues.

Since 1999, the CP Holiday Train has raised more than $26 million and 5.4 million pounds of food for North American food banks. All donations raised at a Holiday Train stop remain in that community. CPKC operates in more than 1,100 communities, and its 12,000 employees are proud of the Holiday Train program. Hunger is an issue that can, and does, impact our neighbours. Over the years, the program has gained a tremendous following and CPKC is proud to continue this tradition for their family and yours.

The Canadian train departs Montreal on November 19 and follows CPKC’s tracks west to Port Coquitlam. Each event is completely free, with CPKC encouraging every attendee to open their cupboards or wallets to ease hunger needs in their community. Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to ensure those less fortunate can access adequate food this holiday season and year-round. Every pound of food and dollar raised at each stop stays with the local food bank to help feed those in need in that community.

The Calgary Renaissance Singers & Players presents Celestial Harmonies: The Magnificent Songs of Praetorius

St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 1121 14 Avenue S.W.

Pre-Concert Talk: 2:30 p.m.

Concert: 3:00 p.m.

Ticket Prices: General Ticket - $25 Students and Seniors - $20 Children (under 18) - Free

The Calgary Renaissance Singers & Players lovingly dedicate this concert to their wonderful Artistic Director, Paul Grindlay, who has recently passed away.

This concert will feature seasonal works by the German composer, Michael Praetorius - one of the greats of the Renaissance composers and a favourite with choristers!

"It is snowing lightly on Christmas Eve, 1615, in the north German town of Wolfenbüttel and the town is full of festive excitement. On your way to church in the evening, you walk through the Christmas Market in the town square, enjoying the sights, sounds and scents of the season. As you enter the church, the organist is already playing chorale preludes, and you see the brass and string players assembling and getting set-up for the service. The church is lit with candles flickering around the audience, who are excited to hear and sing the carols and Magnificat that Praetorius has written for the special day". - Paul Grindlay

This concert, led by Co-Artistic Directors Colin Redekop and Damian Jordan features timeless works by Michael Praetorius, one of the most celebrated composers of the German Renaissance, whose music continues to inspire with its elegance, devotion, and festive spirit.

Joining the ensemble will be the String Theory Music Collective along with guest brass players performing on historic instruments, such as the notoriously challenging sackbutt.

From well-known hymns to jubilant songs, each piece of this year’s holiday concert brings the warmth and wonder of Christmas through the sound of rich voices and vibrant instruments coming together in harmony.
